That's brilliant! I just might have to do that some day, because I've also really wanted a longer, flatter seat, like many other bikes have. Once the pieces were mated with the sheet metal, you could carve the main saddle flatter, pad it up with some foam rubber, and use that padding to fill the gap between the seats. It would be so easy!

Plus if you snagged a couple of old seats off of ebay, you could switch back and forth whenever you wanted.
