Gas Tank/Gas Cap

Should there be a gasket around the gas cap or around the hole on the gas tank? I ask because I hear a hissing sound coming from the gas tank when i move the bike and when i remove the gas cap it stops.

Is it because it's 95 degrees here and pressure is getting out? I just never noticed it until now.

Re: Gas Tank/Gas Cap

Gas tanks on all vehicles create pressure inside when they are used. Combine that with the heat of sitting in the sun and...

What you are hearing is the designed pressure relief for these things. It's totally normal.

Yeah mine does that too when it sits in the sun. When you move it, the vapors escape from the tank with a hiss.
