16 tooth sprocket surprise
i replaced the front sprocket today. when i looked at the lockwasher i found that it had been damaged . half of the splines were crushed as if the nut had been tightened with the washer misaligned. as it has less than one mile i will assume it happened at the factory.
i hammered it flat and refit it. i hope that's the only q.c. oversight. Login or Register to Remove Ads |

This is on a new bike? Why don't you bring it back to the dealer and get a new one?

Re: 16 tooth sprocket surprise
i bought the bike from an ohio dealer and imported it to canada myself.
as a part of the canadian dealers gouging policy the warranty is null and void north of the border. :fu: if i'd only paid $4200 cdn (if you can find one) instead of $1999 us i would have that option. the canadian dollar was above par that day so it ended up at $1989 cdn anyway...i wouldn't trust my gear to those mutts. all they seem to do is install frame sliders and fake chrome licence frames. Re: 16 tooth sprocket surprise
Looks like the teeth weren't lined up right and someone just pounded in on the splines...
Should be easy enough to order a new one. I can't imagine how it would be much more than a couple of bucks. Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Re: 16 tooth sprocket surprise
it looks like it may have fallen off the splined section onto the threaded section then fastened down with an impact tool.
if it were fastened by hand it never would have happened. i hammered it flat on the back end of the 30mm socket. good as new. it probably would take a couple of weeks to get it through the dealer since they never have what i need when i need it.. all is well in the end. |

About the only thing the dealer here has had is the oil filter. Even have to order the O-rings at times.
