Big guy...little bike? ( newbie )

Hello everyone, Im new to the site and new to the idea of biking. Im very interested in getting a GZ250 because its economical to run and about the only cruiser I can afford new. Ive been reading about them online for a few days now and have a question.. Im 6'2, 230lbs with a 32-33 inch inseam ( just measured from heel to crotch ). Does anyone here share the same dimensions ( or close to ) as me and ride one of these? If so PLEASE PLEASE post a picture of yourself on it. The nearest dealer to me is an hour away and I dont want to drive all the way there just to sit on it if I know Im gonna be too big

Im not interested in racing it, I just want to be able to do 65 on the highway and make it up hills at reasonable speeds. Im aware that this question gets asked alow and have read many replies to it but I never get to see pictures of the people my size on them. Please post up :2tup:

Do not fret SS66. I have no picture to share of me on my GZ but I can tell you, I just returned from a 300 mile round trip and experienced no problems other than the usual butt discomfort (get that from any bike). I did 140-150 mile legs without stopping, at an average speed of 60-65, some in hilly country where the speed maybe drops to 50-55. I too am 6-1 and last weighed in at 250. I feel perfectly comfortable on this bike and the dependability factor is almost priceless. Get a good windshield if you are going to be on the open road.

Dont ever buy a bike without sitting on it first. Take the hour drive and go sit on one. Don't just sit on it, SIT on it. Take your time and get a feel for it. Turn the handlebars full lock to see if your knees dont hit or it feels uncomfortable. Make sure the bike will fit you!! If it doesnt, theres plenty out there that will.

For the 2 grand average price range of a used GZ ... you can get a bigger used bike that would fit you if the GZ doesnt fit the bill.

What Dupo said. Sit on lots of bikes, get a feel for them if you can. Spent two years sitting on bikes before I bought the Vstrom. The GZ is a great small caliber machine that does what it was designed to do and does it well. You won't regret a GZ if it fits.

Sitting on the bike is good advice. However, A GZ250 doesn't have a center stand and sitting on it in a show room with your feet on the floor isn't going to tell you much. Take a friend and have them hold it up for you. Even after you have done all that its still not the same as actually riding one.
