Carb Cleaner

I'll be going back to Portugal in a couple of weeks to visit my GZ, "Marauder", 250. I plan to add a few things to it (Stebel horn, oil temp gauge, floor boards and a custom seat would be nice, etc.), and a thorough going over is required.

Which means I need to get some carburetor cleaner. But, here's the problem; my French, Spanish, and Portuguese are piss-poor. I looked for cleaner on my last trip down and back… Belgium, France, Spain, and Portugal, and saw nothing which looked anything like carb cleaner. Alan? Anybody?... Can someone give me a clue as to what I should be looking for? Brand names? Preferences? Gibberish on the container? This stuff is hazardous to mail, so that's another fly in the ointment.

I'd sure appreciate any help you can give me… Also, it sure feels good knowing I have a place to ask these questions

Re: Carb Cleaner

Yes, I can't get carb cleaner in Tenerife. I use fuel additive. I can get it at any of the big supermarkets, such as Carrefour, Alcampo. Just look on the motoring shelf, but make sure you get the one for carb, & not injectors. I use Alcampo's own brand (cheapest). It may not be a true carb cleaner, but it says on the (plastic) bottle that it helps clean the carb. I use 75cl every 3 or 4 tankfuls, & I noticed a difference right from the first dose. It's round about €5 or €6 a bottle.

EDIT :- I've just been & checked my bottle. It's from Alcampo, Who's head office is in Madrid, so they should be throughout Spain. Their own brand is Auchan, but they carry 3 or 4, but I can't remember the other names, It's in a bright blue, 365 ml bottle. It says Tratamiento Para Gasolina, & above it Limpieza, Rendimiento, Proteccion (cleaning, performance, protection) :2tup:

Just showing you the upper limits of my computer talent. Most folks would call me computer illiterate and I agree. I can post pics here and that is my claim to personal fame. I actually killed my last computer while trying to post pics elsewhere. It appears my talent for destruction knows no boundaries.

Whoops, that should read 75ml  If you see some of my other replies, you'll see that today is just not my day!

The only Lucas that I know, manufacture electrical parts. I've never heard the name, otherwise, in Spain. For all I know, you may be correct, but I've never heard of it. I recall now that one of the other brands in Al Campo is S.T.P.
