No Mirrors
I took the kids out for a bicycle ride this morning and kept trying to check mirrors, but of course they're on the motorcycle not the bicycle, it was funny I kept looking down expecting to see my mirrors. You really get used to them.

Don't forget - they also believe that it's o.k for them to ride 6 abreast at 5 mph, holding all the traffic up. Ride on the sidewalk. Ride at night without lights. Not have a warning instrument on their bike. Ride the wrong way down one way streets. Ignore red lights. So, as to mirrors - real cyclists NEVER "get used to them"

Re: No Mirrors
We get a lot of touring pedal pushers from around the world. They seem to be the most savy riders. The green team tree huggers with an agenda for global peace and high volume ear buds are the worst here. But what the hell, every group has a few candidates for a Darwin Award. I'm thinking Open Season with an ugly old truck.

I do wear all the gear you mentioned, because it is designed to be comfortable and protective for bicycling. The same as motorcycle clothing is designed for the purpose of comfort and protection. I have never seen cyclists riding 6 abreast, holding up traffic, but I'm sure some have; real cyclists flow with the traffic and don't interfere with it (and we even use hand signals). But being too submissive and uncertain in traffic will get a cyclist killed. Mirrors vibrate too much to be much use; I can easily glance over either shoulder and see more than a mirror will show. A real bicyclist wouldn't ride at night without lights any more than a motorcyclist would. A warning instrument? A loud 'coming behind' is more effective than any warning device (and scares pedestrians less). A good loud @#$% also works better than a bell or horn when someone cuts me off. (If I ring a bell or toot a horn they will just flip me off - but yelling something takes them by surprise and they don't know what to do for a few seconds, and by then it's too late.) A good loud shout will get someone's attention as much as many horns (especially the typical motorcycle horn). As for the rest of the things you mentioned, I have seen all sorts of motorised vehicles doing them, including motorcycles. You just kind of rubbed me the wrong way, like someone saying all motorcyclists are punks because they wear leather jackets. Or they are all inconsiderate because they have loud mufflers. Well, not all bicylists are as you described either. In fact very few REAL bicyclists are. But of course there are always some exceptions to everything

Re: No Mirrors
I think that cat from Spain just likes to take what's posted and twist it around so that thre is a way for him to slam someone or something. Maybe he's just joking all of the time, but it kind of comes off as if he is a nasty guy. I saw him posing in his motorcycle outfit, kind of reminds you of the Village people.

Re: No Mirrors
Wish I had their money! Then I might join them. I could always wear iron pants! or I could be the one standing with his back to the wall. :neener:
Then I'd be as famous as Easy, when he's playing "Grumpy" in the seven dwarfs
