New guy from CA

Hi Everybody, new rider here from Los Angeles CA

I'm 26 years old and i just recently started riding dirt bikes this last april and got hooked. I didn't like the fact that I had to haul my bike all the way out to the desert to ride, too long to get there and couldn't go out there too often. I wanted to ride everyday so I bought me a 2007 gz250 and I love this little bike, it's perfect to learn street riding on, so far i've only put 200 miles on it. I feel all alone here in LA though, all i see are sportbikes!

I know what you mean. This Harley country. I've only seen five GZ250s that don't park in my garage.

Dirt riding is good practice for street riding. You never know when you will need to ride your GZ in the dirt. I just got back form a camping trip where we had to ride a mile or two down a double track trail to get to our camp site. Wet red clay, rocks, and wet grass riding in the first time. Pitched camp in light rain.

I've been camping several times on my GZ250. Nothing like Patrick Henry's ride to Alaska.

Heres what it looks like packed up. I can carry more.

Bobs loaded bike

Yo Bob;
Thats just about as scary a photo of a GZ as I've ever seen. Will it make 50 mph with all that shit loaded on it?? How does it handle? I know I made the 425 lb papa-san, mama-san post, but geez, I didn't think someone would try to put 400 lbs on it!!

You da man.
:lol:

It will go 65 to 70 on lever ground just fine.

I've carried more.

The odd thing to me is that other than handling differently and getting up tpo speed a little slower I really don't see much difference. I'm sure it uses more gas but I don't see much difference.

This one actually has a heavier load. The bag in the previous picture is mostly air. I was camping at a KOA so I didn't think I needed as much. I will never tent camp in a KOA again.

What was the problem? Too many noisy generators?
