Smokey Mountains 1/23/09
We got up to 59 degrees today. So........
This was 19 miles from the house. So I make a turn and found this place. Miles for the day 57 fuel mileage 67.

We had similar weather here too so I went for a nice ride as well. I need to get a digital camera that isn't connected to my laptop. River looks awesome reminds me of West Virginia.

Hey JWR,
Have you posted previously about the trunk (bag) you have on there? Does it sit on top of the pillion (or instead of?) Would a 13" notebook computer fit in it? Nice pictures. Was it a little cooler than 59 once you got up there?

That is just a small tank bag with velcro on the bottom for the PC.
I just hook a bungie under the front leather grap and go around the back of the seat. It is only 11x9. Weather was nice .

Yes the GPS is waterproof.
This one will run about 20 hrs on battery if I keep the light off. I put a plate on the brake fluid cap to mount it. Works well.

Re: Smokey Mountains 1/23/09
Good pictures, good ride.
Some buddies and I are planning a ride up there soon. We are in north Atlanta. Do you know the Cherola Skyway? Some distance from us, but looks good. We will probably spend one night up there as 400 miles is too far for one day. They ride Harleys, but my GZ250 stays right up with them. Chris, retired near Atlanta. |

Re: Smokey Mountains 1/23/09
Hey Chris,
The Skyway is a must do ride. Nice sweepers not nearly as tight as the Dragon. It does go over 6000 ft. so it gets cooler on top. You need to come up thru Two Wheels Only{ Suches}, Turners Corner, Blood Mountain, then to the Dragon. Let me know when, I'll try to take some time and be tour guide. Jerry
