Adjusting Gearshift lever

Is there a way to adjust the foot gearshift lever up or down? Mine seems to be a little high to shift gears comfortably. I couldn't find anything in the service manual about doing it.

Yes there is as a matter of fact. There is an adjustment rod between the actual shifter lever and the shaft that comes out the side of the transmission case. Undo the lock nuts on each end(keep in mind one end has a reversed thread) and turn the rod. As you turn the rod the shifter lever will raise or lower. Find the position you need most and tighten the locking nuts. Make the adjustment with the boots/shoes normally worn while riding. Minimum of tools needed and once done you will feel much better astride the bike. Ride safe.
