Starter Circuit Problem
Just got my 2000 GZ 250 yesterday, 4000 mi on it. My first bike in 40 years. This morning I was practicing slow and go's and killed it a few times. It restatred fine. About the 4th time the electric starter wouldn't work. Push started ok and all other electrics seem ok. The 10A ignition fuse checked ok. I have a DVM. What other things should I check.

I cannot help with your problem, as I am as new as you. But I'm sure the help squad here will be along soon.
That is your first bike in 40 years and the one I got on Tuesday is my first in 41 years. Welcome! |

Starter Circuit Problem
Check kill switch turned off, kickstand down and in neural, clutch pulled in. After checking them and still have problem, open switches and spray electrical contact spray on contacts. Work switches a few times and spray some more.

Also check connection at starter. Make sure it is clean and tight.

There is an electrical plug on the clutch lever that comes loose on some bikes. It is a safety switch so the starter will not work. It is a small item close to the clutch cable adjuster and might be somewhat hidden.

That is the problem. I just press on it a little each time it does it now and it starts right up. I need to investigate it further and see if I have a intermitent wire or contact issue.
