Stuck fuel valve???

I finally filled up the tank today. Noticed it was on Reserve yesterday, so I figured that would be the first thing to do today.

I discovered how to unlock the cap, looked inside... and there was a little bit left. But definitely time to fill up!

So I get to the gas station, pour until it got to the bottom of the neck while tilted on the kickstand. (Should the bike be straight up? Was only able to add 2.5 gallons, and it did not appear that there could be an extra gallon inside to make up the ~3.5 gallon tank capacity...)

But I was unable to turn the fuel valve from Reserve to the On position. Seemed very difficult to turn it. Perhaps one of the previous owners glued it in the Reserve position for some reason?? Or is there some trick I was unable to pick up on??

No trick. It should turn easily. Have you tried WD40?

If you can drain the tank the Petcock can be disassembled pretty easy, two Allen wrenches and a Philips head if memory serves, don't take my word for it though I got a peanut tank on mine.

Not sure on the fuel valve.... But you are right to fill up the tank on the kickstand. I came across an article in here someplace that's says that. I used to fill mine upright, seems I can get more gas in that way. But really, it's only a matter of time before you drop it and spill the fuel... not good!
