Kick stand lowering help

I lowered my front end about 3" which makes my bike stands practically straight up. The whole conversion is on a pretty big budget so I'm not wanting to buy a new stand. I was thinking i could take a metal filer and take the inside part of the stand that it catches, and I could shave off enough of the metal to where it catches closer to the middle of the stand. Any opinions or suggestions? Thanks

Cut and weld? Even if you can't weld, it should be cheap enough at a local repair shop.

I could find a guy too. But how much should I tell him to cut it? It's standing practically straight up now. Thanks for the quick reply

Take off 1/2" to an inch out of the stand and then reweld. Take a look at some of the guy's other work though. If he's not going a clean job or completing his loop, then move on to someone else. It's a simple little tool but it's going to be holding up a lot of weight and taking a lot of abuse over the years. You could always buy a second factory kick stand off of someone and have one short and one long, just in case you ever go back to stock.

Qasual - Well cut small first like a inch or so and prop the bike, if that is good you weld if not you cut more haha.

File down the metal of the side stand stop. Not the side stand itself. Did this on my Vstrom and it worked very well. Beg or borrow a hand held grinder if possible.

Easier than welding is to have some one heat the stand with a torch while you hold the bike with the stand down.When the stand is heated you can angle the bike to were you want it.
