Serious clutch problems, need some help.

This all started when I messed up and pulled in the clutch lever with the throttle wide open. Knee-jerk reaction to something running out in the road.

Immediately following this began a terrible metal on metal sound that got progressively worse until I got home.

Took the cover off and took the clutch apart. What I found was that the very last plate (the friction plate sitting closest to the engine) was damaged. The teeth (the outer parts that interlock with the basket's fingers) were burred and scored pretty badly. The friction material was worn down on the same side, toward the engine.

After 4 hours of scraping gasket, weeks of waiting for parts to come in, reinstallation, blah blah blah, it just did the exact same thing. I replaced that plate (the others were fine and only have 8,000 miles on them), the wave spring, and the wave spring seat.

My question is this: does anyone know what are possible causes of the plate rubbing against either the hub or the inner part of the basket?
