New Owner in King, NC
Purchasing my '02 GZ250 tomorrow...getting it titled, than trailering it off for inspection. I suspect it will need some new tires, at least. In our 'brilliant' state, we're forced to acquire insurance before titling. Nice. Not.
Among the other niggling problems, previous owner stored it outside and a mud dauber nest was made in the side of of the carb. He cleaned it out and it's running...kind of. I'm guessing it needs further cleaning, fresh gas, and a seafoam run-through. The other key issue is one stripped exhaust stud. Can I safely helicoil it and be fine? I figure that'd better be done before inspection and I'm a certified machinist, so the prospect doesn't really bother me. Has anyone replaced the bolts with studs and flanged nuts? And not to offend you GZ purists, but I'll be making the cafe front fender mod, removing the rear fender, and making a custom plywood-based re-upholstered pleather and fiberglass rear cafe seat. I'll be retaining the dual rear shocks, at least for now. I'm also considering the -1 tooth rear mod. Well, that's it for now. Advice appreciated, and I'm sure I'll read and chip in on some forum topics... Cheers, Ted Login or Register to Remove Ads |
