Howdy from Southern Indiana!
Howdy! First forum I've ever joined. In 08 I purchased 'Sparky' (black w/blue sparkles 08 GZ250 .4 miles) & I quit my job of nearly 20 years. Maybe I should mention I'm 40 (female) & I never learned to ride a bicycle-grew up riding horses or on the back of somebody else's motorcycle. Year before a brother & sis coaxed me into riding a little honda mini bike. That was fun, and my brother kept running around the yard with me not letting go-for quite a long while! Couple weeks later I 'borrowed' my nephews bike then bought my own honda dirt bike. I loved 'zooming' around the farm, boinked over a couple of times-was kinda disappointed I didn't even get a grass stain. Well I knew there was a whole world out there & the dirt bike kept me contained. Dad wouldn't sell me his 03 Gun metal blue 883 hugger for what I could afford-oh that was a pretty bike (& it was a Harley). Oh well, one day I finally sat on that bike-ugh-felt real heavy, don't want it any way.
Read reviews on beginner bikes, did a lot of window shopping on ebay. A blue suzuki GZ250 got my attention, I was ready to drive my truck to MI and buy it! I'm getting braver & I've got long legs, I try dads huge, fully dressed, Road King. WOW it felt better than the little Sportster! So I thought maybe I should sit on as many bikes as possible before running off to buy that pretty one (but I really did like it). A local dealer happened to have a GZ250 and a Rebel. Yeahhh.... sat on the GZ...aawwwww this is my bike! Couldn't discriminate, had to sit on the Rebel, yuck, went back to the GZ. Next day I had Sparky in the back of my truck heading for home. Sure hope I hadn't made a mistake. The boys said get a bigger bike, husband wanted me to progress to a bigger dirt bike, or a road & trail & if I had to have a street bike please let it be a sport type bike (I like chrome & I like shiny). Sis (who rides) said get what you want, just remember you will drop it. She was right I dropped him at 1,400 miles. Gravel is EVIL, but now I have my pretty 'chrome' fender tip. Here I am over 12 thousand miles! Just replaced my first tire and brakes, ready to go at it again. I love my bike! Thought I could get some good info from this forum & maybe meet somebody to ride with. Any one in Southern Indiana? (I have dial up and that map was taking for ever). :2tup: MYPONY Login or Register to Remove Ads |
