Upgrading to LED turn signals on GZ250

I recently decided to change out my stock 2016 GZ250 turn signal lights with brand new LED ones. Bought a package of" Kinstecks 4PCS Motorcycle Indicators Flowing Turn Signal Lights Motorbike Turning Indicators 12V 12 LEDs Bulbs for Motorcycle Motorbike Scooter"

Turns out LEDs lights does not just plug in and work. Older incandescent bulbs require more current than LEDs, and provide more resistance.
Problem#1: I installed all four and tried the left and right indicator switch, ALL four lights blink when I turn on. and at twice the speed.

Solution#1 : after some digging around , I realized I needed diodes to prevent the back flow of current. Google "LED fix for turn signal " and you will get alot of articles and pics. Bottom line you will need a install two diodes between your turn indicator bulb and the rest of circuit , see below for wiring diagram. I made my own "Y" diode assembly. You can also buy online.
You can get to the wires from inside the headlamp.
This will fix the all lights flashing isssue.

Problem#2: Signals flash twice as fast.( too fast).
Solution#2 : replace flasher relay with an LED compatible one - see amazon inks below. Flasher is under seat. Just pull existing one out and plug new one in.

After the two fixes above, all signals work perfectly.

Very in depth and helpful post! Thanks!

I had a similar issue when I changed the blinkers on my Nighthawk, and they weren't even LED! They simply didn't pull enough current for the thermal relay to recognize them so I had to sway it for a load independent relay. The only thing I lost was the helpful "click, click, click" that you get from the old school kind.
