Need help. GZ250 willl not start!
Hey yall, I just bought a used 2003 GZ 250 that wont start. I have done the following:
Cleaned carbs twice(jets, needle, bowl, checked floats, not stuck) New fuel filter New Spark plug gapped at .6mm I know gas is getting into the cylinder, ive cleaned the carb, and double checked it. kickstand is up when trying to start, clutch pulled, fuel is in "on" position, all hoses are hooked up. I took spark plug out and kept it plugged in while starting, and toucjed to engine cylinder, and gets spark... A friend and i tried push starting 10-15 times and still wont start....i have no idea what to do now...ive tried and fixed everything i can think of. wracking my brain! Check valve clearance.(They may be to tight) Check air filter.(dirty or clogged) Check wiring connections from pick-up coil to CDI box. ( loose, broken, or dirty) Test compression. The only other thing I can think of would be sheared key on flywheel.(This would make timing off.)

What setting is petcock set on? Should be on run or reserve. Sounds like it is on prim. pull spark plug and clean. After changing oil try starting. I will keep my fingers crossed for you. Did you pull the drain plug at the bottom of air box ?

Change air cleaner. What setting is on the petcock? Should be on run or reserve. Sounds like it might be on prim. Some sludge is normal in the bottom of the air box. You should pull the plug on the hose at the bottom of the air box from time to time to drain the crap out. Remember to put the plug back in. If there is gas in oil, change filter as well as oil. Pull plug and clean or replace. Try starting. I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

The petcock doesn't have an ON setting. It's either RUN, PRI or RES.
