oil change / replace O rings
I will be doing my first oil change first. I have read all the posts but no one has addressed the replacing of O rings and gaskets. Do they have to be replace or can they be re-used more than once ???
Thanks in advance, Be Safe JIM Login or Register to Remove Ads |

There are 2 O-rings for the filter and a gasket for the bottom oil plug. The oil filter rings can be used over and over as long as they are not damaged.
The plug gasket can be used again many times as long as there are no oil leaks. When in doubt just replace them for peace of mind and reliability. |

OR just go to an auto parts store. They will have a selection of gaskets/crush washers for the drain plug and a bunch of O-rings. If possible take in your old parts for comparison as they won't have any part numbers to work with. |

Every now and again I get it right. You may even find an oil filter there too. Ask for a HiFlo HF 136 oil filter. Same as Suzuki but cheaper.
Another good source will be a small engine repair shop. The filters are a common item on a variety of small engines. Asking and looking is free. Last edited by Water Warrior 2; 01-15-2014 at 08:08 PM. |
