Poor performance, bike will not go over ~40mph?

Hey guys,

Great forum, been lurking for a while now.

I have 2 GZ's one runs GREAT, the other not so much. Lets chat about the latter.

The bike was purchased after being stored for a few years and had not been started. I loaded it up on the truck, brought it home and started to inspect everything. I pulled the carb off and gave it a cleaning per the service manual on this very site. I reinstalled the carb and boom it started right up and sounded great.

I finally got the chance to take this one out after a few other minor repairs ( sticky throttle ). The bike will just not go over 40mph for anything. I have checked the vacuum lines, they are all connected correctly. I have great fuel coming from the petcock and a brand new air filter. Compression is ~150psi. I cant figure out what the issue could be, everything looks and sounds great. I can flick the starter on this bike and it starts right up.

My only reference to performance is the other GZ which has exhaust, K&N, and a rejetted carb. So I know the stock one I am working on will not have the same power but this is abnormal performance at best.

Sorry for the longwinded post, any insight would be greatly appreciated!

-Marc
