rear fender removal

I am in the process of repainting my gz and I have a question regarding the rear fender. I would like to remove the metal frame from under the plastic fender but there does not seem to be an easy way. I have it off the bike but the bolt holes seem to be mated to the plastic?????? Has anyone done this before?

There are 2 bushing that were stuck well, I accidentally banged the fender and they popped out....go figure. Now to the painting...of which I suck at. But the labor is free. :2tup:

I will post a pic after its done. Still want to put dragbars on it. Might try the cheap and easy route of using 19mm long shaft sockets for the risers.

Oh, I also replaced the front fender with one I refurbished from a suzuki savage...cost me 14 bucks.

Don't even think about brushing it on. You'll show every brush stroke. If the paint doesn't come in a rattle can you'll need to get hold of a sprayer, and buy the correct thinner to thin it down for spraying, and to clean the sprayer when you've finished. Remember, several thin coats, with drying time between each, is the way to go. Cuts down on runs and drips.

You can do a good job with a spray can.I painted mine with Dupli-color black with 3 coats of clear.
