A few slightly hard stops will help the brake pads bed in for maximum performance. I wouldn't bother for myself but that what some folks say. Unless you got real hard pads it won't make much difference in my opinion. Ride the bike and be happy the brakes work when called upon to slow the bike in a predictable manner.
