I have been thinking about blacking out most of it but I'm still researching the best way to tackle the metal stuff.
For the light cover and speedo cover, I sanded the parts, used flat black "bumper" paint and then clear coat. But I noticed when I was putting everything back together, it still scratches off a bit easily.

Those removable covers on the engine, I actually used gold "engine block" paint and then baked them in the oven for an hour at 200F and that came out very durable.

I've heard BBQ paint works well on metal parts..
