Have you changed brands of gas lately? Maybe gas with more ethynol in it. That might have some effect but I doubt it would smell like an old Chevy. Has there been any noticeable change in the weather or atmospheric pressure lately? Just guessing here but it might lead to another thought pattern with a solution.

Or we can just blame Curiousity for disturbing the cosmic winds while landing on Mars............That was a fantastic achievement no matter how you slice it.
