I've never actually heard anyone call motor vehicle insurance a scam, except for that renter's insurance they try to sell you when you rent a car.

It's just that, at least here in the states, if you hit someone and they even *think* that their neck *might* hurt the tiniest bit, you'll be on the hook for $20,000 just like that. And if it actually is hurt, it'll be more like $200,000, if you're lucky. It's easily worth the $20 a month, I say.
