Having people not come back to follow-up on a thread is a disturbingly common issue on forums and it drives me insane.

The only thing worse than asking for advice and then not responding with a "thanks" or something along those lines is to be active on a thread until you get the answer you want, and then vanish. People will be diagnosing a problem, and then once they fix it, they never update the rest of the community on what they were able to to do to fix the problem. They're usually only here long enough to get the answer they want and then they vanish, which does absolutely no good for the greater knowledge.

Oh well. It's a public forum and that's just one of the drawbacks. What can you do?
