That was a good read.
I went to school for auto paint and did it for a living for awhile. I have panted some cars out side with lacquer. It is the right paint to do it yourself.
I have a friend who wins trophy's at car shows with cars he painted his self. He does it all with lacquer and believe it or not an air brush.
