This points to a lack of vacuum. "prime" is just an on/off switch. "run" uses the engine vacuum to open the valve, & let fuel flow. This is a safety device to make sure that fuel will not flow when the engine is shut off. First step is to check all the vacuum hoses from the petcock to the engine etc. Check that they're all there, tight, no holes, not been chewed by vermin while the bike was stored. Bet that you find the answer right there. :2tup:
