Hence, the "F" in pre-start mnemonic "FINE-C":

Fuel selector - ON
Ignition switch - ON
Neutral
Engine cut-off (kill switch) - RUN
Choke - As required

Also, as previously stated, you should be able to reach the fuel selector and switch to RES without looking. It's a good idea to practice this a few times before you need to do it for real.
