Yes, but if someone wanted to fit a box like yours & mine, with a front hinge lid, it wouldn't open. With a two piece, like I've got, the backrest can be removed, & the lid opens o.k.
I can still fit two helmets or a week's groceries in the box, with no problems, so weight doesn't appear to be a problem with the two piece.
