Alan do a little personal research at bike rental outfits. Suzuki Vstroms(650cc or 1000cc). BMW makes some nice comfy mid size adv bikes. Kawasaki has their KLR 650, a little brutal to ride but you may like it. Keep in mind these bikes all have a higher seats due to their design and longer suspension. Also do some snooping at dealers for more variety to determine what might fit best. Most street legal trail bikes will work if they have sufficient engine to haul you. Stay away from BIG bikes, you may have to pick it up sometime.
