Not really sure if I will go ahead with it, but I've been mulling a solo trip to middle California (Yosemite, Lake Tahoe and parts therein) during the one week this summer I don't have to be in Chicago. Have any of you had any experience with what I've seen advertised as "adventure" bikes? These look like a hybrid between dirt and street. I'm wondering if they bring anything to the table and how much they suffer on the highway. Also, the last time I was on a dirt bike was 1972, and I wasn't driving.
