Hi Jess and welcome. The only rust I have in that area is the 4 screws that hold the exhaust flange on to the motor. All 4 screws are rust colored on the heads. I tried to clean them up a bit, with little success and now mostly just give them a light coat of oil after I wash the bike. I can still back them out and tighten them with no problem, so I don't worry about them. Very slight rust on the bottom side of the muffler, but again I think that is normal for a 2006 bike.The bike can't stay in showroom condition forever. I too use chrome polish and wax on the chrome on the bike, but like someone said before, that does get hot around there and the protection does come off. Hope you enjoy your GZ. Ride safe!! GZBrian
