It should unscrew in a manner similar to the top end.
A pair of common pliers would probably help.

It may not be broken. Since the top was loose, the bottom end might
have just jumped out of it's "hole".
Try twisting the top end while pushing firmly on it; it might snap back into place.
Then......it might be broken too.

P.S. You can always LOOK at your posts after they are done....and delete them and start over if necessary.
