For what, adjustment or replacement ??
Chains and sprockets are NOT replaced on a "schedule" but when they start to wear out.
They should be checked at least every 1K miles or so and may not need adjustment for 4-5K.
When they start requiring adjustment much more often or show other signs of wear, THEN it's time to replace.......hopefully a LOT more than 5,000 miles.
If you have a brand new bike, you want to check it more often in the first couple of thousand miles as it may need a couple of adjustments as it "breaks in".
