Re: Me, taking the nephew for his first ride
I only mentioned it because, despite many speeches, a pair of Harley riding boots, and insistence on blue jeans, my wife still managed to burn her leg on one of our infrequent two up trips. This was on the Strat, which admittedly gets a lot hotter than the GZ and in a lot more areas, but it just seems real easy to do even when you are waching out for it.
I did burn a nice hole in my Caliber tourmasters when I was pushing my stalled GZ out of a left turn lane - no damage to my shin or calf, but it was a pain getting the melted nylon off the tailpipe.
I'm always worried about little kids running up and touching the shiny Yamaha and getting a very harsh lesson in the crudity of giant air-cooled V-twin technology.
I burnt the back of my hand pretty good just brushing against something shiny when I was futzing with the seat. Now I leave the gloves on until I've unlocked and exposed the helmet keeper hook and cable.
