The difference is that they are NOT both 2002 models. The K-number is the model year; K2=2002, K3=2003. Not that it makes much difference though as any changes are pretty much either cosmetic or not significant operationally.

Yes the tank will fit. If there is any difference at all, it might have different decals or paint stripes.
