How about this: the float bowl is emptying out causing the 2 mile run. You stop, it fills up, then starts and runs off whats in there. Could be something heat related that is causing the flow needle/floats to get stuck. If it were me i'd tear the carb off and check into it.
I just don't see it being electrical ... could be wrong though. Wouldnt be the first time.
