Re: My GZ-- La Poderosita-- is gone...
So then the solution would be for all states to require registration and insurance for scooters, as is done here.
Which would mean convincing your local legislators-- and, of course, their...

Re: My GZ-- La Poderosita-- is gone...
Amen to that.
Just this past Sunday , a few blocks from my house, a biker was killed by a left-turning cager who, of course, "didn't see him." As one local news post put it, the brother dies on...

Re: My GZ-- La Poderosita-- is gone...
I don't know what the law is in other states, but here in New York scooters most certainly do have to be registered, insured and licensed like any other motorcycle.
And as for their right (as seen...

Re: My GZ-- La Poderosita-- is gone...
Yeah, but it's nice to know that she's out there somewhere, helping someone else get out in the wind!
By the way, I saw a very trick TU250 the other day-- no pillion, no logos, and fork boots &...

My GZ-- La Poderosita-- is gone...
I traded her in to get a scooter for the wife. Truth to tell, La Poderosita hadn't been getting out of the garage very much since Bonny joined the family. She served me well, I must say-- got my...

Re: here i am
If you want more power and height & weight are issues, consider a Triumph Bonneville. I just picked up an '09 SE and it handles as easily as my GZ (much better, actually), and has plenty of power. ...

Re: Movin' on up...
Thanks for the good wishes, one and all. I'll post pictures as soon as I get around to taking some. So far it's stock except for the rubber fork boots, but I'm waiting on some other factory...

Movin' on up...
After about a year and half on "La Poderosita" I decided to move on up to my dream machine-- a Triumph Bonneville SE. I was going to put the GZ up for sale, but now the wife is thinking of taking...

Re: My new ride
MC Enterprises definitely has a bar for the GZ 250. Several of us on this site have them.

P.S. That USAF service was in Germany (then West Germany) as well. Not near Augsburg, though.

Re: My new ride
I recently put a Fox Creek Leather (made in the USA!) tool bag on my sissy bar (also MC Enterprises, also made in the USA!). It's designed to mount on the fork on a big hawg, but on the little GZ...

Nice ride. If you do go for a crashbar, check out the one made by MC Enterprises. It goes on easily enough, looks good, and is functional.

Re: My first bike
For most of the world's population a 250cc bike is big. Untold thousands throughout Africa, Asia and Latin America use 100cc and 125cc machines for daily transportation, and do just fine. In...

Re: New Guy With TU250
I hear ya, AZ Kev. I've been snubbed by a few HD snobs as well. Thankfully they are relatively few in number (at least in my neck of the woods), and most riders will give or return a wave no matter...

I always thought I'd get a bigger bike, and probably will someday. But everytime I take my GZ out for a ride I end up asking, "why?" It's quick, maneuverable, and stylish. Throw in economical, and...

Re: Me and my 2001 GZ250
You may be right, Easy-- it certainly is true that the companies won't make (or distribute in a given country) machines they can't sell.
My market-based assessment of the situation is...

Re: Me and my 2001 GZ250
Let's face it, there is almost no market in the U.S. for mid-size motorcycles. We have a couple of 250s on one end of the spectrum, and the rest of the showroom is filled with 200 MPH crotch rockets...
