Re: Brakes Help

Since mine have a slight rubbing when not braking, and the braking surface is just thicker than a nickel, I think it's time to change them. Since they are not down to the metal, and the braking...

Brakes Help

The front brakes on my GZ 250 make some noise when I'm rolling without the brakes engaged. When I engage the brakes, they stop firmly, and they don't make any noise. Then the noise quits for a...

Re: GZ250 'throttle cap tightener bolt'

With a coat hanger I managed to get the rubber part out, but the nut remains. I never hear it. I could replace it for a few cents. It's on my list. I don't have an able-bodied friend handy to...

Re: Dumped my GZ in traffic

It's been a week and a day since dumping in traffic. My left hand still has a pretty sore knuckle, and my right hand is pretty weak and wrist has lost some range of motion, and is tender. I think...

Re: GZ250 'throttle cap tightener bolt'

Thanks guys for all the input. I actually tried the coat hanger before posting the original question. With no brighter ideas surfacing, I took to the coat hanger plan again with renewed...

Re: Dumped my GZ in traffic

Filters came in the mail, and I got some 10-40 synthetic. This weekend I'll change oiland filter, and lube the shift lever. Since the wreck though, it has been shifting just fine. Just a little...

Re: Dumped my GZ in traffic

Thanks, guys for the encouragement. Riding the rest of the way to work that morning, and then back home, I went in and out of being a little uncomfortable. This morning on the way to work, I was...

Re: Dumped my GZ in traffic

Yes it was a total rookie mistake to get distracted like that. I didn't mean that I was actually looking at the clutch or the shift lever... I just wasn't paying attention to traffic. I was kicking...

Re: GZ250 'throttle cap tightener bolt'

Thank you for replies. I'm going to try the coat hanger with tight hook. The plug is down in there so shaking it out won't get it.

Yes, it's the bar end. I'm not well-versed in the part names....

GZ250 'throttle cap tightener bolt'

The long thin bolt running into the handlebar through the throttle and through the cap on the end of the handlebar rattled loose. I was trying to tighten it back in, but way down 4 inches inside,...

proper chain tension

Guys, I apologize for the worn out question, but it seems that my owner's manual and my local bike mechanic disagree as to the amount of slack there should be in the chain of a GZ250. Unless my eyes...

First of all, I'd like to thank the moderators for all the work that goes into maintaining the forum. I find the downloadable manuals especially valuable, as I bought my bike used with no manual. I...
