Short trip,hard fall.
Took a hard fall a little while ago. Landed hard on my right shoulder.My brother and I went out so he could watch me practice hard stops on different surfaces,and tight circles on same.
I did fine with the circles,but the hard stop was what did me in.I didn't apply the brakes at the same time,and locked up the front brake. Luckily I was on dirt and not cement!!! He asked me what I wanted to do,and I said let me try again. Then I did great,but boy oh boy... does my shoulder ever hurt!! My brother also said that my road bike is unusual in that it handles dirt roads very well.Solid and stable as a rock. So I am on my way to the med center to make sure nothing is broken! Wish me luck! Annie :cry: |

Annie;
If you're like a bunch of us in the over 50 crowd, we have three rules. Rule #1 Don't fall off Rule #2 Don't fall off Rule #3 Don't fall off Good luck and feel better soon! Sarris :) |

Good luck indeed! :tup: Aleve is MY friend. My Doc. said: If one isn't enough, take 2. That's the prescription strength. My guess is a bad bruise or maybe a strain. If something was broken, it's unlikely that you would have waited "a few days". |
:sad: Hope you feel better soon Annie!
Drive safe... |
Nothing's broken,thankfully. Hurts like the devil though.I'm laughing about it now.My doctor ordered a muscle-relaxant,which she says I am gonna need come evening. The only thing bruised is my ego. When I got back on the bike,I took a deep breath and started quick stops again. Something must have sunk in because there was so sliding or locking of brakes the rest of the practice session.My brother is being really patient with me,and he really likes my bike.
So.... everyone:Have a safe and enjoyable 4th!!! :2tup: Annie |
Annie, glad to hear nothing was seriously bent or broken. Keep up the braking practice. Lynda had to make a fast slowdown to avoid an idiot and actually had the front tire squeal without locking up. Talk about threshold braking at it's finest. As for age and the perils of pain just take your meds and carry on. Along with my regular life saving drugs I always carry a variety of over the counter stuff with a Red Cross First Aid kit thrown in for good measure.
Just curious as to whether you wear protective gear or not ? If not, please do in the future. We don't want you hurt. |
All better.Going out tomorrow!
Thanks to all who wished me well regarding my fall. Much better now.
As for protective clothing:I'm all set except for the gloves.I can't find any in Munchkin size!! Good weekend,all!! Annie :rawk: |

They HAVE Munchkin size!! |
Also, the weight-lifting/exercise section has some very thick, padded leather gloves that are generally meshed and provide a lot of airflow.
