Gz250 wont take throttle
I have an 06 GZ250 that wont take throttle after having the carb cleaned. The slide moves in the carb but very slowly. If i start it with the choke on it will idle fine and idle without the choke on. When I take the choke off and try to give it throttle it will die. I have had the carb cleaned at least 5-7 times and no luck. My mechanic thinks that the slide not moving like it should is the problem but not completely certain. Any help would be appreciated.

You can check the slide manually.Lift with your finger ....It should lift smoothly & you should be able to hear vacuum. If no vacuum the diapham is leaking. :)

Slide should move freely. If the air passage that picks up vacuum from the engine side is clogged then the slide wont move very freely with carb assembled.
Make sure you didn't have a couple of the 3 jets switched. This messes everything all up. I assume the float height was set per suzuki spec too? |
Hopping in to say that I have the same results from trying to start. It'll start with a little throttle and choke fiddling, and I can get it to idle fine after warming up. But once I hit the throttle, dies straight out.

I had a similar problem previously. Bike ran fine one night, stopped to go to the store and when I came out the bike would start but as soon as I applied throttle the bike would die. I had my local mech check things out and it turns out the battery was the culprit.
My bike would start but as soon as I tried to ride the bike would die. My mech checked the battery and it was toast. Once I replaced the battery, bike started right up and I had no further problems... Only posting because this might be an option for you to check.... chandlerbingfl |
