carb HELP
 
My bike was running perfect, then It started running very Rich. I put in a new needle &seat, plus a new float. Still runs very rich. I set the float 4 times,..droping it lower each time. Still runs very rich ! It wont idle under 2500rpm or it floods out. I did a "float , needle seat Test....it stops the fuel no problem. "it almost seems like the fuel is by- passing the needle & seat" could the carb have an internal crack ?? I have cleaned the carb 4 times with carb cleaner and compressed air. Its super clean,..never did find any dirt. How come the bike runs sooo rich ??? What am I missing. 2007,250 marauder milage 4000kms.

It is conceivable that if someone over tightened the needle seat that they would crack the aluminum body of the carb causing overflowing of the bowl and running to rich.
Put the tank petcock on "Prime" and leave it there for a while... Does gas dribble out the
carb bowl overflow?

Are all your jets still in position. A crack in the aluminum carb body around one of the jet
mounts could also cause this...

Your air filter is clear I assume?

The little choke piston is still in good shape and not stuck...?

I'm assuming its a crack I cant see. I set the float so low "bowel only 1/4 full", and the darn thing still ran horribly rich. And no,..when its on prime, no gas leaks out. Its defiantly sucking fuel from some place its not suppose to.

Is the float a hollow metal float? If it is, it may have developed a pin hole and is filling up so it won't really float as it should. If that is the problem then just let the float dry out and solder over the pin hole if you can find it. Re-assemble and set the float to the proper specs.
This is just a wild a$$ guess because I know nothing about the innards of a carb.

I have seen those hollow metal bronze-ish floats too....
One can solder a pinhole yes but be EXTREMELY careful to totally dry it out as
WatWar2 says.
An optimal air fuel ratio packs quite the 'bang' if it ignites.. heat or otherwise.

Unscrew choke plunger & move the choke lever to be sure plunger is not sticking. :)
