New bike, dead battery

So I might have accidently drained my new gz's battery. I was riding for a minute, turned it off and went to start again. Wouldn't start. Clicks a few times, then nothing. The horn is very weak which makes me think the battery is dead.

If I bump start it, should driving it around for a while charge it back up?

Yes it should. Bump start it in 2nd or 3rd gear. Ride it for at least half an hour. Repeat within a week. Try to take it out for an hour or more.

Although, it would be easier to hook the battery up to a battery tender.

Ok thank you. But if the lights go on, and the horn is weak, but it won't start, that sounds like the battery right?

Yes, the battery is low, it needs to be fed some electricity.

The clicks is the starter relay, there is enough juice in the battery for the relay, and some light, and a beep, but not enough to turn the starter motor which is the biggest current consumer on your bike.

Actually, the charging system on the GZ is pretty weak. Charging it for 5 or 10 hours at 0.75A is the better option, although, if it started ok then suddenly went flat, you may have to bite the bullet and get a new battery. If you do, then make sure you charge it (like above) no matter what the salesman says, before you fit it. If you haven't got a charger/tender, then you really need to get one. They're not that expensive, and a lot of GZ problems stem from a weak battery.

Take Alan's advice above---you cannot go wrong!
I am a believer!
