20w-50 Dino oil OK for hot weather?

been thinking about using a 20w-50 conventional oil during warmer months since my gz250 is seeing lots of stop & go traffic, construction zone delays, idling at traffic lights, etc; other than a minor reduction in power & gas mileage, are there disadvantages to running a thicker oil? thanks...

I will not use 20W-50 on any vehicle.
this oil will increase the stress on the oil pump an slow the oil flow trow the engine reducing the cooling an increasing the fuel consumption

Raul is correct. I discussed changing weight of oil with 3 different motoercycle shops. All advised against the idea. Stick with recommended weight oil was the answer I got from all .

15-40 Shell Rotella dino will work well enough. The 20-50 weight is just a tad heavy for a smaller engine to pump.
Much larger V-twins are sometimes recommended to run a 20-50 due to heat, engine stresses and the shear forces of the gears.

10w-40 covers all temp ranges that any normal person is going to see.

OK...the 20w-50 currently in the bike will be used as a 1000 mile 'flush' and back to 15w-40 or 10w-40 afterward
