What tool is needed to set idel screw

Hi just wondering how do i measure the right idel speed for my gz 250 i know the manual gives the spec for were it should be but what do i use to get it right other than just adjusting the idel screw to were i think it should be by sound only.

Yes, listen to the engine. When the engine is HOT set it 'til it sounds nice and smooth, and you can't hear the individual thumps of the engine. Suzuki recommend 1200 to 1400 RPM. Remember that your car adles at around 860 RPM, so if you listen to that and set the bike around 50% higher, that's the starting point. :)

Yeah, but your car has 4 or 6 or 8 or whatever cylinders whereas the 250 has but one, so the sound is hard to compare.

There is a free program called RPM Sound that can read the pulses and translate it to RPM for you, sort of a "tach ap". Might want to give that a try.

Here is a youtube video of someone who shows how to set the idle.

The idle speed right after he starts it, is good.
