Rear shock disassemble
 

anyone know how to take these things apart? i have them off the bike. id like to tear them down to paint the shock black and polish the spring. please tell me they come apart.

I have not tried to take the shock apart but you can find some videos on youtube to show you how.

i cut the spring. after that, the shock was loose enough to take the top "eye" off. it is just threaded on like a bolt. then it was disassembled. :) i just didnt like that i had to cut the coil. but i accomplished what i wanted. lowered it a bit also.

did you take any before or after pictures?

If you compress the coils,you will relieve enough pressure to take them apart. ;) :)

i have pics. just have to upload. i had no way of compressing the spring. thats why i chose to cut. also i relocated the battery and all the wiring harness to the tool tray. ill post those pics also.
