Counter wight handle bar
The end cap/counter weight has come loose/off on my bike. The long bolt does not want to screw back in, think nut has fallen off in throttle twist assembly. Any idea how to reconnect, or just say screw it?

Re: Counter wight handle bar
You will probably have to remove the rubber cylinder from the inside of the handlebar first.
If you ruin it in the process, just order a new one. Then, when you put the bike on its side, the nut will fall out of the handle bar (mine did) Reconnect, finger tight, push back in, tighten further. For a parts list and figure, see: http://www.mrcycles.com/fiche_sectio...003&fveh=10117 (parts 2 through 8; part #7 is the rubber expansion cylinder, and part #8 is the nut in your handlebar) |
Re: Counter wight handle bar
To get the rubber out, try bending the end of a wire coat hanger into a hook, then pushing it through the rubber, and pulling it out.

Re: Counter wight handle bar
If leaning it over doesn't cause it to fall out of the bar, put a coffee filter over the end of your wet/dry vac and suck it out. The filter will keep it from getting sucked into the vaccuum.

Re: Counter wight handle bar
I have to assume the world will not end with the counter weight, or will it? A bit more vibration? How about super gluing it on?

Re: Counter wight handle bar
Seems to me that the only thing the weights do is stop the mirrors getting too much damage when the bike goes down. (they hit the road first)
