Ok, so I just bought a used 2003 GZ which could have been in much better condition. I rode it today and noticed that there was a gasoline leak. As I looked to see where it's coming from I noticed a thick black hose was loose and releasing all of the gasoline. I don't know much at all about motorcycles as this is my first one. I would really appreciate any information you all can provide. ( I hope it's something I can fix at home)

Hm, first thing coming to mind is the gas hose, between the petcock and the carburator. It should have a clip at each end, to squeeze it tightly around the nipples. If a clip is missing, buy it. If the hose is bad (cracked), buy a new one. ASAP, because leaking gas is very dangerous.

The other 'thick hose' is at the bottom of the bike, it should have a cap and will drop goop (water/oil/gas) that collects in the air filter housing.
Close by is another hose, thinner, which is the carburator overflow.
Hope it's not one of them.

No gas should be flowing when the engine isn't running, except when the petcock is set to "pri" (prime) (lever points down). Make sure the petcock lever is pointing forward in the "run" position. Except when you run oout of gas, then point it to the rear - "res" (reserve).

Cgonzalez- can you take a pic of the area? We will be able to give you a good idea of what's going on at tht point. 5th is right about the
Common causes. I would go with the problem being a loose fitting on the fuel tank selector switch or the connection to the carb,
Both are really easy fixes.

That is the air filter housing drain tube, #8 on this drawing:

It is missing its plug (#9), and a clip (#10). Scroll down for prices/ordering.
(I am not affiliated with the above vendor, just bought something from them once or twice).

Please get them as soon as possible, because unfiltered air is sucked up through it, with dirt that could ruin your piston and cylinder.
Don't worry about anything leaking from it, that's normal (usually...).

On my bike the tube is positioned in front of the round bar, in the middle.

PS there should also be a thinner tube around there, which attaches to the bottom of the carburator; that is the gasoline overflow, it only discharges when the float in the carburator is malfunctioning.

At every maintenance or two (600 miles - clean & oil the chain) pop the plug and have the gunk leak out, in a little can or something.
