cyl heads

I read somewhere that there is a different cly head used after 2004. Is that so and if so what advantages? Is it interchangeable on older bikes?

In 04 they modified the combustion chambers for better flow for better fuel economy. IMO I cannot see any advantage to using the newer head on older models.(yes it will fit).
