Bike stalls at 50 MPH
 

I use my bike to commute in a big city and usually stay off freeways. The highest speed I will go is usually 40MPH. However, today I decided to take it on a short ride through the interstate going through my city. After riding my bike for several minutes at 50MPH it stalled in the middle of my ride. I eventually fired up my bike again but after about ten minutes of riding it stalled again at around 35MPH. The engine just went silent. Headlights and everything else were still functional.

What is the issue? How can I fix it?

Try to duplicate the ride under safe conditions and wait for it to stall again. Open your gas cap and listen for an immediate sucking sound at the tank opening. You may have a plugged vent which is causing a slight vacuum and stopping gas flow to the carb.
Also check the oil level to see if is down. A very low level could likely cause the engine to overheat and heat seize temperarily.

If you stall at highway speeds, wont the back wheel lose power and lock and cause a skid ? Like if you stall on a turn, you fall over, correct ? Whats the difference in stalls and different speeds, what does the bike do at both speeds ?

The wheel will roll in gear and not lock up, same as turing off or running out of gas.

You fall over because of gravity. not enough speed.

Sounds like a fuel starvation issue. Try to replicate the running condition (you don't have to be traveling 60 mph on the highway. Find a long less traveled backroad, shift the bike up to 3rd and just hold the throttle about 3/4 and let the engine rpms rev high, you should encounter the same issue. Try to establish a pattern of exactly how the engine dies, do you feel a slight hesitation or bucking ? Does it feel like you just shut the key off ? There are quite a few possibilities and we need more details.

Had a 125 2 stroke try to heat seize many years ago during a really hot day flat out on a highway. It would buck a bit, loose power and then come back to life. I had to remove the large home made mudflap to give it more air flow to the engine.
2nd wife had a complete lock-up with a 175 Yamaha at 30 mph on gravel. She road it out and stopped safely. It appeared the front tire kicked a stone up and it lodged in where the chain wraps around the rear sprocket on the bottom side. No damage but it could have been a serious get off in gravel. She had pulled in the clutch soonest but that didn't work at all. Had to be a stone that jammed the wheel.
